FAQs

Why do you use soy wax?

Soy wax is created from the oil of a soybean. The Luna Company only uses 100% natural soy wax that is grown in the USA. Not only does soy wax burn clean, it also burns slower. This allows for your candle to last much longer!

Why is what wax you use important?

Most candles have a wax blend, most commonly you will see a soy-paraffin blend.  Paraffin is the most widely used wax for a lot of candles because of it’s low cost and optimal scent throw (how much you smell both when the candle is lit and when it’s cool). Paraffin wax is derived from petroleum as a byproduct of the refunding process and tends to cause more concerns in the long run. Our mission is to create the best clean products, hence why we choose soy wax!

Can I reuse my container? How?

YES!  After your candle has been burned down to 1/4 in. left of wax, use the following steps to prepare your jar for reuse.

1. Place your container in the freezer for 2 to 24 hours

2. Remove the frozen wax from the jar with a butter knife. (be careful with this step)

3. Clean the container with warm soap and water

Here are a few ways to repurpose your container: makeup brushes, pens and pencils, holder for other Luna Co Shop products, toothbrush and toothpaste, candy jar, spare change, mini planter, toiletries and much more!

Why wooden wicks?

Wooden Wicks provide a subtle crackling sound, they are organic, non-toxic and eco-friendly sourced from FSC-certified mills and made in USA.

How long will my candle last?

  • Candles that are 14-16oz will last around ~70-80+ hours and are well suited for larger, open areas in your home or studio such as a bedroom or family room.

  • Candles that are 8-9oz will last ~45+ hours and are well suited for small-medium sized areas in your home or studio, such as a bathroom or office.

What is memory burn and why does it matter?

Soy wax has what’s called a memory. That means that when you burn a soy candle and then extinguish it, the next time you burn it, the soy candle wax will only melt across as far as it did the first time.

Please be sure to burn your candle for at least 2 hours, to allow the wax to reach its full melt pool around the entire perimeter of the jar!

What are scent notes?

A candle has three types of notes, a top note, a middle note, and a base note.  A top note is the first scent you ‘experience’ when the candle first burns or when you smell it when it is unlit.

Then, the middle notes, which can also be called heart notes, are the scent results after the top note has faded a little.  This scent that you experience consists of the middle notes of the candle fragrance.

Finally, you then have the base note, which are the scents that reveal itself as the candle is lit and burning at a full melt pool (top layer is melted).  It can take up to an hour or so for this to occur.  So what is the true and actual scent of the candle?  That would be the mix of the middle notes and base notes.

What fragrances are used?

We use 100% phthalate free fragrances. Phthalate is a chemical used in cheap fragrance oils. The synthetic fragrances that create candle scents usually contain phthalates which are used in cheap fragrance oils.  As candles burn, phthalates are released into the air where they may be inhaled or absorbed through the skin. Once they enter the bloodstream, they can aggravate allergy and asthma symptoms in some people and have been found to alter hormone levels.

When will I receive my order?
